FOUNDER & CEO
Marsha retired from Truman Medical Center (TMC) February, 2016, she served as the Chief Operating Officer for Behavioral Health for 23 years. During her career of 45 years, she was always an advocate for people with mental illnesses and disabilities. At her direction, grant funding was secured to initiate several innovative community projects. These projects include: training community mental health providers, developing secondary trauma training for first responders, and trainings to create trauma sensitive schools. Her community involvement includes being a co-founder of Trauma Matters KC and serving on the following community boards and committees where she consistently promoted creating trauma informed and resilient communities: Campaign for Trauma Informed Policy and Practice, Missouri Coalition of Community Behavioral Healthcare, Chamber of Commerce Healthy KC Behavioral Health Committee, Community Network for Behavioral Health Care, and Metro Council of Community Mental Health Centers.
She is a Strengthscope Certified Pracitioner, Facilitator for Franklin Covey products and certified to provide Investment in Excellence and 8 to Great programs.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Marisa presents the team with a business lens attained from her position in management and program management at a financial institution. During her time in her position, she viewed and experienced many situations where customers and staff were suffering from traumatic events and chronic stress with little opportunity to address these circumstances. She is currently attending Colorado State University for her bachelor’s in healthcare administration and management with a specialty in Project Management. Marisa has experience from project management, working state-wide projects for Early Childhood Providers in providing Trauma Informed Care and Resilient trainings. She is hoping to continue her work with transforming communities to be trauma informed and resilient. Marisa is also a Strengthscope Practitioner and attended the 2018 CIT International conference.
Nick Mañan is the Co-Creative Director for Resilience Builders. He is a passionate actor and filmmaker with experience in various multimedia channels. He understands the importance of bringing trauma awareness and building resilience within our communities. As a Hispanic-American he hopes to spread awareness into minority communities as well. He aspires to facilitate positive change through his various skills and believes Resilience Builders is the perfect company to spearhead this mission.
Jerry Mañan is a Hispanic-American filmmaker, graphic designer and actor in Kansas City. He graduated from Avila University with degrees in Film & Digital Media and Acting in 2019. Resilience Builders fulfills his desire to use his artistic talents to draw attention to issues in the community, like trauma and mental health. His accolades include awards at the 48 Hour Film Project - Kansas City (‘17 and ‘18), selected photography pieces for the Kansas City Artists Coalition (‘18 and ‘19), and his projection design received regional technical recognition on his work in The Diary of Anne Frank at the American College Theatre Festival in 2019.
